Things to Look at When Buying Used Construction Machinery in UAE

construction equipment in Dubai

There are many reasons why companies are thinking of buying used construction equipment in Dubai. However, the question of buying used machinery involves a great deal of caution. There are many things that you need to look at before you actually make the purchases. Here are some of the warning signs that you must be aware of when making such a decision.

Smoky Engines with Starting Problems
When you are buying a construction machine, you must start the engine to see if it is working properly. When you start the engine and if does not start or takes effort in getting so, you should become careful. When used construction machinery suppliers in UAE sell machinery, all of them may not necessarily share with you the details that you need to know. They want to sell you anything that has come into their lot to save space. Never involve yourself in buying a construction machine that has smoky engine. Blue or white smoke is particularly more dangerous than black smoke. However, excessive engine smoke regardless of its colors is trouble.

Fluids All Over the Place
Construction machineries are very complex in nature. There are so many systems involved in a construction machinery including hydraulics. A lot of these systems involve a lot of different types of liquids like hydraulic oil, coolants, or mobile oil. When you are operating a used construction machinery to test it for operations, look out for the warning signs. If the machinery has too much oil spilled or has leaky hydraulics, you need to be aware of the difficulties that you could face later on. When a machine’s leaks cannot be stopped with usual maintenance expenditure, it means it has some serious issues that need major overhaul which would come at a heavy cost. You may need to have some critical parts replaced.

No Maintenance History
Another warning sign that is often ignored by many is lack of maintenance history. If a construction machinery has no maintenance history it can have several meanings. The first is that the owners do not want to share with you the astronomical costs that they have incurred to get it fixed. Second, they never bothered to maintain history so they really do not know. Third, they do not really care. Lastly, the mechanic did not maintain any history to hide the actual repair expenses from the owners. Any of these circumstances make the construction machinery ever more doubtful. Therefore, if you find a construction machinery with no maintenance history you need to be very aware.

Seized or Not Working Parts
Construction machineries have multiple parts that operate in sync to make the entire system work. If any of the parts of the machine is not work, do not take it lightly. One of the biggest mistakes that we make while purchasing used construction machinery is that we do not pay attention to these not working parts. Think of the way a machine is used in construction projects. Any machine that has issues in operating to its fullest will cause problems, stoppages and unnecessary waste precious labor time.

Unnecessary or Unwanted Wields & Modifications
There are time when you see a lot of wields on a construction machinery. This may mean that there is a defect in the machine or it faced a terrible accident that deemed it beyond repair. Similarly, any major modifications made to a machine can mean its capabilities have been seriously altered. Therefore, make sure that you have checked for wields and modifications. A machine wielded at too many places is already unsafe to work with and has lost its structural integrity.
